Have you ever heard designers talk about kerning or tightening up the leading and wondered what they meant? Or walked past a group of web developers as they discussed a pull request and serverless cloud architecture?
Navigating all of the different personalities found in a project or workspace can be challenging. Everyone has different terminology, modes of communication, needs, and expectations--and often all of those change depending on the task at hand.
How are we supposed to keep up? How can we make each interaction productive and amicable?
Join AIGA WM in partnership with Grand Circus for our Meet in the Middle: Design + Code 101 on May 17th at Start Garden in downtown GR. From 8:30am-10am, we’ll hear from designers and developers alike as they discuss how these two talents can better work together, communicate, and share content. As designers, we’ll also discover the benefits of knowing basic html and css and how to best set up and deliver our design files for developers.
Panelists include:
- Moderated by Andrea Napierkowski, owner, designer, and developer at CurlyHost
- Joey Parks from Grand Circus, a designer with coding knowledge from bootcamp
- Brandon Klotz from Grand Circus, a designer turned developer
- Valentina Valdes, interactive designer with Adobe who works with developers and serves on Code for Good
- Jeremy Bell from CQL, a web developer who works with designers and serves on Code for Good
Breakfast snacks and coffee will be provided! When you sign up, please let us know if you're a designer, developer, or both; and what topics you want to hear our panelists discuss. We hope to see you there!
