Craft a Design Week Beer—Release Party

Back during Design Week, a small group of creative folks got together to brainstorm what type of beer really speaks to the West Michigan design community. We considered a wide variety of ingredients, aromas, and brewing styles.

After much deliberation, and a few afternoon drinks, a Berliner Weisse was born. Guided by Gravel Bottom Head Brewer, Nick, the ingredients selected include blueberries, dry hops, and Michigan grain*. These choices reflect some of the ideas that came to mind during the workshop: community, local, approachable, seasonal, artistic, and edgy.

Join AIGA West Michigan and the local design community on July 24th in being the first to tap into our Design Week brew! In the meantime, put on your naming hat and submit your idea(s) for what we should call our beer! Leading up to the event, the top names will be put up to a vote. The winning name will be announced at the release party. Think hard people, there may be prizes on the line.

This event is free and open to the public. Of course, 21+ only to partake in our unnamed beer though.

*No shredded bits of a Herman Miller Picnic Poster were used in the making of this beer... even though it was suggested.

**Special thanks to the crew at Gravel Bottom Craft Brewery and to Maria Roelofs for the hard work on coordinating and designing for this event!
