Creating Social Change
Since 2009, Design For Good West Michigan has been creating social change through a series of design-centered initiatives. As a community of creative professionals, students, and local organizations, we’ve used design thinking to impact the growth of education, non-profits, business, technology, and so much more. DFG has been a space where design can be discovered, discussed, understood, and appreciated.
For West Michigan, this has meant a rich history of community collaboration between creatives and organizations that serve West Michigan.

Design for Good
As of 2016, AIGA reinstated its commitment to public good, social impact, and civic engagement by threading its strategic initiatives together under a newly evolved Design for Good ethos to increase coherency between them and to demonstrate design’s problem-solving value while reinforcing AIGA’s leadership and influence.
For AIGA West Michigan, this decision demonstrates the importance and necessity to continue this work of tackling social challenges that are relevant to our community. We’ll continue to weave the principles of Design For Good into AIGA West Michigan and connect the community for solving issues that matter. In the meantime, check back here for more information on upcoming events and discussions related to Design Thinking and Social Innovation.
