A Message Regarding West Michigan Design Week and COVID-19
To our membership and extended design community:
It is after much consideration, taking into account the safety and well-being of our AIGA West Michigan community, panelists, keynote speakers and attendees, we will be postponing West Michigan Design Week until the fall.
We love West Michigan Design Week. It is a time when we have the opportunity to gather as a community and celebrate design together. As an organization, we want to provide the best quality experience that we possibly can. As we moved forward with our planning and setup, it was becoming more and more clear that the chain of events surrounding COVID-19 were affecting our ability to provide a safe and successful Design Week. The postponement of other similar events, the closing of universities and the recommendations of the State of Michigan all played a role in helping us come to this decision.
We appreciate all of the support and excitement around this week of events and we want to emphasize that Design Week will happen. We are dedicated to this and will provide more information after we officially meet together, in person, as a board. We will also be working closely with our partners to secure new dates and event locations for the fall.
Over the next week, we will be refunding all ticket purchases. We are working to determine the best ways to make that happen.
To all of our partners, studios, volunteers, directors and stakeholders, we want to say THANK YOU, thank you, thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Please know that this decision in no way negates what we’ve accomplished together these past months. We move forward with confidence that when Design Week does happen, it’s going to be awesome.
Please stay safe and we will be providing more information soon.
